The J-Hawks nearly shut out the Pleasant Valley Spartans Tuesday night in a non-conference road game. Sophomore Jarred Wood took the hill, and although allowing runners on each inning, he battled through and pitched 4 shutout innings in his start to earn the win. Colton Knox followed in relief with 2 shutout innings, and Tyler Konigsmark finished the game in the 7th. Pitching was not the only strength on display for the J-Hawks. The offense stayed consistent as they threatened to score each inning and pushed across 7 runs over the course of the game. In the 3rd inning, Spencer Van Scoyoc knocked in two runs, and Colton Knox in the 6th inning would double to score another pair. The bottom of the lineup also contributed well, as Manny Olutunde added two singles and two RBI's and Tyler Roeder went 3-3 scoring 3 runs. A very solid effort was given all around by the team.
The JV fell to Pleasant Valley in the opener 7-3. The bats came alive more in this JV game for the J-Hawks. Both Tyler Fowler and Zach Weger would hit triples and score a run a piece. Seniors Reid Griffith, Tylor Phillips, and Steven Carlson would provide RBI's.
The JV/V will play Wednesday night versus Davenport West in a home game beginning at 5:00 pm.
