In a repeat of Thursday night's extra inning battle between the Warriors and the J-Hawks, the Sophomore Warriors just nipped the J-Hawks in 8 innings again, this time by a score of 5-4. Chris Haring started on the mound for the J-Hawks, pitching 6 innings and allowing only 3 earned runs. Trey King who made a few great defensive plays at first base throughout the game relieved Haring in the 7th, but was saddled with the loss in the 8th inning after giving up a run. The J-Hawks scored their runs in a single inning, this time in the 5th. After two quick outs were made, Rhett Thompson reached first base from an error. Tyler Unkel would follow with a base hit. Nile Happel entered as a pinch hitter and came up clutch, smacking a line drive to right field which was misplayed, scoring two runs. Chris Haring would single, and Connor Van Scoyoc hit a hard single up the middle to score Happel. Errors and passed balls would help Isaiah Williams, courtesy running for Haring, come around and score another run. Sam Meyer had a strong night at the plate, going 2-3 with two singles and reaching base from a hit by pitch as well.
The J-Hawks will continue their season on Monday at home versus the Iowa City High Little Hawks.
