The Varsity J-Hawk baseball team put together an eleven run 6th inning to finish the Cedar Rapids Washington Warriors in 6 innings. The J-Hawks jumped out to a quick 10-1 lead in 2 innings. In the first inning, the first four J-Hawks attacked the baseball and all ended up with hits. This spark was carried over in the second inning, as the J-Hawks sent 9 hitters to the plate. In the bottom of the third inning Sophomore Sam Meyer, making his first start of the season, was chased after pitching 2 and 1/3 innings, giving up only 2 earned runs but 6 runs total. Errors, both mental and physical, would be the J-Hawks undoing in the third as they surrendured 7 runs. The next two innings would come to a stalemate. The top of the 6th inning would end it and put the game out of reach. 17 J-Hawk plate appearences were recorded in the inning, 6 walks, 3 hit by pitches, several errors, passed balls, wild pitches, and one solid hit by Caleb Stekl to tap in two more RBI's would create a lengthy inning. Zach Szabo would finish the game for Sam Meyer and record the win, tossing the final 3 and 2/3 innings. Plenty of big performances were to be had.
