Gutsy performances by Kennedy and our J-Hawks made for a must-see Metro Championship tonight. Early runs were put up by both teams, but each changed pitchers and ended up going 9 innings, with a 5 inning scoreless drought in the middle. Jarred Wood made the start for the J-Hawks, followed by Jared Eivins and Tyler Konigsmark. Eivins and Konigsmark combined for the final 6 innings. In those 6, they struck out 5 batters and keeping the Cougars scoreless until the 9th. Several great plays were made throughout the evening, including an over the shoulder grab in deep center by Spencer Van Scoyoc, as well as some difficult groundballs charged by shortstop Lucas Larson. Van Scoyoc also ended up hitting a double and a triple in the game. Both teams battled until the very end, with the Cougars winning 5-4.
The J-Hawks will open up at home tomorrow night versus Solon in a Varsity only game. The game starts at 6:00 pm, hope to see a packed crowd as we break in our new lights and improved bleachers.
