The J-Hawks opened up their season at the Metro Tournament on Monday and came out rolling.
In their first game, the J-Hawks defeated Mt. Vernon by a score of 4-0. Although rain made the field wet and the ball difficult to grip at times, the team battled through and took control of most of the game. Connor Van Scoyoc, freshman, pitched a complete game shutout. In the opener, a few J-Hawks also recorded their first Varsity hit including Tyler Roeder and Brayden Frazier, while Zach Szabo made his first Varsity appearance as a Courtesy Runner.

The semi-final featured the Prairie Hawks versus the J-Hawks. Although the scored was tied at 0-0 through 2 1/3 innings, Jefferson opened up the game in the bottom of the 3rd. In the 3rd, the J-Hawks batted around the lineup, scoring 6 runs. They followed by scoring 3 in the 4th inning, and finally 1 in the 5th to end the game by 10 run rule. Spencer Van Scoyoc pitched a 5 inning complete game no-hitter, only allowing 2 walks and a runner by error. Zeb Render recorded his first Varsity hit, while Caleb Stekl's double was his first hit as a J-Hawk. The J-Hawks will play at 7:00 pm Tuesday May 26th at CR-Washington's field against CR-Kennedy in the Metro Tournament Championship. This is the 2nd consecutive year these two teams will play for the championship. We hope to see you all there!
