The J-Hawks begin an important week on Monday, as MVC standings and Substate Seedings could get shaken up. The J-Hawks currently lead the MVC Mississippi division with a 12-2 record while also holding a slim lead over Prairie, the leader of the Valley Division, as they are 13-3 and without the tie-breaker.
On Monday, Jefferson heads to Linn-Mar for a doubleheader beginning at 5:00. Linn-Mar is currently in second place in the Mississippi Division with an 8-4 conference record. Jefferson could take a strong lead in the MVC with a pair of wins, but Linn-Mar could also close the gap quickly. The J-Hawks will also play Waterloo West and Waterloo East in doubleheaders on Thursday and Friday in MVC action.
Tuesday the J-Hawks will continue their busy week, barring rain, as they play 8 varsity games in 5 days. They will play Bettendorf at home on Tuesday in non-conference action. The J-Hawks stay at home Tuesday through Friday.
Wednesday includes a Substate preview as the Clinton River Kings come to town. These two teams have the possibility of meeting at any time in the Substate playoffs. Jefferson has played only two teams from their Substate so far, defeating North Scott and sweeping Senior. Clinton and many of the other Substate schools have faced each other previously. Most of the results have been splits, but Clinton and North Scott have a doubleheader upcoming Monday that will be sure to bring clarity to seeding. Seeding will end July 4th.
The J-Hawks appreciate all the support and assistance so far this season, and we hope to see packed stands throughout the week!
